JROCK INTERVIEWS-The Akabane Vulgars On Strong Bypass-J-POP SUMMIT 2014

The Akabane Vulgars on Strong Bypass

...... performed at J Pop Summit Festival 2014 at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Japantown in San Francisco, California. After the announcement was made onstage that the program was going to switch over to rock with the Akabane Vulgars on Strong Bypass, Paul Anka's "You Are My Destiny" started playing. It was not until the song was about to end that the band made its way onstage, guitarist Yumi leading, followed by bassist Miki and drummer Kei. Once all three members had taken their respective spots, the mood of the festival went from kawaii to hardcore, from lighthearted to dark.

..... Darkness emphasized by a lot of minor keys coupled with intensity set the mood for the band's show. Standing out was the band's version of "House of the Rising Sun," a song every one was familiar with. Variety with cohesion was achieved with a perfect blend of fast and slow, each song placed strategically in place, one story leading to the next to effectively express that inspiration that hits Yumi during those creative moments. At the end of the performance, the bandmembers spent some time at the New People tent meeting their fans and granting interviews. And, they were kind enough to grant My JHouse Rocks a short interview after J Pop Summit Festival was done for the day on July 19th.
